The event will bring more than 625 funeral directors, guests and exhibitors together, August 12 - 15, 2018.

ALBANY, NY (August 8, 2018) -- The New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) will host its annual statewide convention in Verona, August 12 - 15, 2018.

The event, to be held at Turning Stone Resort, is expected to bring more than 625 funeral directors, guests and exhibitors to the region.

Jeffrey A. Jennings, CFSP, owner of Jennings Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home Inc. in Penfield and Harloff Funeral Home in East Rochester, will be installed President at the organization's annual meeting to be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 during the convention.

Jennings, a native of Rome, NY, will serve for the 2018-2019 term.

According to NYSFDA Executive Director Michael A. Lanotte, "This Convention provides an excellent opportunity for funeral directors to gain additional skills to better serve their communities, develop a stronger understanding of funeral service laws and best practices, as well as build closer relationships with the funeral service professionals they work with every day."

The Convention will offer a variety of programs for attendees and a trade show for licensed funeral directors and their guests. Nearly 60 exhibiting companies have secured booth space to showcase caskets, hearses and other funeral-related items.

Educational opportunities include topics relating to: creating meaningful memorials; NYS funeral law; grief; technology; communication; technology; cosmetics and restoration techniques and business management.

Funeral directors will also learn the latest information about a soon to be launched state-wide public awareness campaign.

While in the area, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a charity golf outing benefiting the NYS Tribute Foundation; visit Skaneateles for a walking tour; and attend the NYSFDA annual awards banquet and reception at Shenendoah Golf Club.
