The New York State Funeral Directors Association has scheduled their 2018 Regional Meetings, The State of Funeral Service: A 360º Perspective.


Funeral homes across NYS have seen a dramatic shift over the last several years in how their business model now flows, what families want, and the pool of candidates to hire as staff.

Many NYSFDA members have commented that families now appear to have new values, preferences and opinions that have changed the business of funeral service. Families now request different ways to honor their loved ones and these families seem to have new perceptions of funeral professionals. Add to that fewer people entering the profession and identified “gaps” between mortuary science curriculum and the knowledge and skills needed to work with today’s consumers.

To best identify the impact these changes have on NYS funeral homes, the 2018 NYSFDA Regional meetings will discuss timely issues in each of these areas, including recent data obtained from:

  • 2017 Consultant Survey – State of the Profession
  • 2017 Consumer Survey
  • 2018 NYSFDA Membership Survey
