New York State Funeral Directors Association

Billvillanova portraitDear NYSFDA Members,

Over the last month we held virtual meetings to discuss the Chapter Model concept. I am delighted to say that we had solid attendance and participation during those meetings.

The purpose and goals of the Chapter Model concept is to: unite the funeral directors of the chapter for the mutual welfare of all funeral directors statewide; encourage and provide networking opportunities and cooperative endeavors among funeral directors; enhance the funeral service industry’s charitable, community and legislative endeavors and; carry out all purposes embraced and defined by NYSFDA.

We were excited to receive support from many funeral directors and local associations from across our state. Some local association leaders have already asked to be part of the “pilot program.” Others have asked for more information and clarification on some processes and structure. Our Association Leadership will ensure all questions are answered and proper direction is given.

The opportunity to establish NYSFDA Chapters throughout our state will elevate communication, strengthen our footprint throughout our Regions and enhance our responsiveness to our members. It is most certainly encouraging to receive positive support from many of you. We eagerly look forward to establishing the steps to begin the pilot program alongside our local associations.

As I said earlier this year, “our Nation, our Communities and our Profession is being challenged like never before.” Funeral Directors throughout our state have remained focused on providing services without fail or hesitation. To all Funeral Directors who I am honored to call a colleague and friend, you are the unsung heroes who are infrequently recognized for your contributions. On behalf of the countless families and communities you serve, please know that you are appreciated and we give thanks to each of you.

On behalf of your Executive Board I wish all of our members and professional staff a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and a Happy New Year!

#NYSFDAstrong is not just a hashtag, it is, who we are.

Respectfully I remain,
William J. Villanova, President
