New York State Funeral Directors Association

Jeff Jennings CFSPIt’s hard to believe that 2019 is upon us. My parents always said that the older we get the faster time goes. That certainly seems true.

As I look back on 2018, I have many mixed emotions as I’m sure many of you do. Times of joy, gratitude and even some sadness. I’m sure 2019 will hold many of the same, but my wish for all is that the joys are many and the sad times few.

December was a busy month of meetings at 1 South Family Drive as several groups all convened.

The NYSFDA Board, FDSS Board, Tribute Board, Government Affairs Committee and the Past Presidents all gathered to address issues facing our profession and our Association in 2019.

The Government Affairs Committee has set the list of legislative priorities for us to work on in 2019. Not surprisingly, the full implementation of EDRS leads the way.

The other groups have discussed a wide variety of factors too long to list here in the context of this address.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our NYSFDA office, a local regional director or myself should you want to review any information discussed in our Board meetings.

In February, the Continuing Education and Convention Education Task Force will be meeting to discuss the education offerings for the 2019 Convention to be held in Saratoga Springs, August 18-21.

If you should have any information about speakers you have heard in the past or anyone who stands out as someone you believe others from around the state would benefit from hearing, please reach out to Kelly at 800-291-2629 or kelly@nysfda.org.

Speaking of continuing education, we have an upcoming webinar on the calendar this month, Innovative Restoration and Cosmetic Techniques, visit my.nysfda.org/webinars to register online. We hope you’ll join us!

In closing, I wish you all a joy filled and prosperous 2019.

Peace, Love and Mickey Mouse . . .

Jeffrey A. Jennings, CFSP
