New York State Funeral Directors Association

Don't despair, Spring is on the way, or so I hear. It's a bit hard to believe as I write this note and we are expecting 15-25 inches of snow here in western New York.

Just as 2018 ended on a busy note for our Association, 2019 has begun with a full agenda. One meeting I have already been involved with last week saw our FDSS board approve some changes to the operation of PrePlan.

I would be remiss if I didn't take a moment for a commercial for PrePlan. If you are not using PrePlan to fund your preneed trust accounts, I encourage you to reach out to Adam Schrom [800-577-3752] to learn more about how PrePlan can work for you.

We are expecting an increase in our interest rate and I firmly believe the safeguards offered through PrePlan are second to none. Check it out.

Our profession has been suffering as of late with a shortage of funeral directors in our workforce.

NYSFDA has been trying to address these issues in a variety of ways. The 2020 Task Force is still exploring the possibility of a para professional position. More on this will be forth coming.

We are also facing some changes at NYSFDA that we all face daily in our own businesses. Increasing revenue while cutting expenses.

These are tough conversations being addressed by your Board of Directors and I am confident that these talented individuals will make decisions that benefit all with the best interest of our Association in mind.

I ask all members of our Association to please avail yourself of as much information about the workings of our association- and give your input as you see fit. The only way our association is successful is with input from all members.

Until March, I wish you all:

Peace. Love. Mickey Mouse.
