Donald A. Edmunds of New Hartford Elected Regional Governor for NYS Funeral Directors Association
Media Release - Albany, NY – June 1, 2009

Donald A. Edmunds of New Hartford has been elected regional governor for the New York State Funeral Directors Association’s (NYSFDA) Region 2. Edmunds’ three year term will begin September 1st.

As regional governor, Edmunds will serve as a member of NYSFDA’s board of directors and executive committee, will help determine NYSFDA’s role in New York State funeral service and will act as a voice in Albany before the State’s legislative and regulatory agencies for local Region 2 member funeral homes.

A licensed funeral director since 1975, Edmunds is Secretary of the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams and Edmunds Funeral Homes in New Hartford, Utica, Holland Patent, Old Forge and West Winfield. He is a graduate of the Utica Free Academy and Hudson Valley Community College in Troy with an AAS Degree in Mortuary Science. Edmunds is a member and past president of the Tri-County Funeral Director Association. He is a State Director of the New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) and a member of Selected Independent Funeral Homes. He is also a member of NYSFDA’S Executive Committee, Budget and Finance Committee and is a Trustee of NYSFDA’s PrePlan program.

NYSFDA’s Region 2 includes the Eighth District (Cayuga-Seneca-Yates); Jefferson-Lewis; Onondaga-Oswego; St. Lawrence and Tri-County (Herkimer-Madison-Oneida) Funeral Directors Associations.

 

John J. Kelly Elected Regional Governor for NYS Funeral Directors Association

John J. Kelly of Schroon Lake has been elected regional governor for the New York State Funeral Directors Association’s (NYSFDA) Region 4. Kelly’s three year term will begin September 1st.

As regional governor, Kelly will serve as a member of NYSFDA”s board of directors and executive committee, will help determine NYSFDA’s role in New York State funeral service and will act as a voice in Albany before the State’s legislative and regulatory agencies for local Region 4 member funeral homes.

A licensed funeral director since 1964, Kelly owns the Edward J. Kelly Funeral Home in Schroon Lake, New York. He is a graduate of the Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Sciences in Syracuse.
Kelly is a member of NYSFDA’s board of directors, Chair of the Ethics Committee and member of the Constitution and By-Laws Committee, the Audit Committee and the Northstar and Adirondack Funeral Directors Associations.

NYSFDA’s Region 4 includes the Adirondack, Capital District, Columbia-Greene, Dutchess-Putnam-Ulster, Fulton-Montgomery, Northstar (Clinton-Essex-Franklin) and the Orange-Rockland-Sullivan Funeral Directors Associations.

 

Founded in 1889, NYSFDA’s mission is to promote the highest standards of funeral service to the public and to enhance the environment in which its members operate. Over 900 member firms and their 3000 licensed funeral directors who practice across the state belong to the New York State Funeral Directors Association. NYSFDA publishes a quarterly newspaper column “Transitions” and brochures which educate and inform consumers about end-of-life issues.
