After the Prearrangement Conference
Once prearrangements have been made, it is important that loved ones are informed of the arrangements and where the documents are kept.
Copies should be given to a spouse or next-of-kin so they will be aware of the individual's wishes. The executor of the estate and attorney should also have this information.
Documents should be kept somewhere safe and easily accessible. Safety deposit boxes or an attorney's office are not ideal, as they may not be readily available at the time of need.
