WEBSTER  FUNERAL  DIRECTOR  SCOTT ANTHONY  ELECTED  PRESIDENT  OF THE  NYS  FUNERAL  DIRECTORS  ASSOCIATION


Albany, NY -- August 23 -- Scott B. Anthony, co-owner and operator of the Anthony Funeral Chapel in Webster and Brighton, New York was elected president of the New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) at the organization’s annual meeting which concluded yesterday in Saratoga Springs, New York. A licensed funeral director since 1983 and certified funeral service practitioner (CFSP), Anthony will serve for the 2007-2008 term.

Anthony is a member of Selected Independent Funeral Homes, National Funeral Directors Association and a former president of the Rochester Genesee Valley Funeral Directors Association, He serves as a trustee of the Funeral Service Foundation, a not-for-profit philanthropic organization. Active in his community, he is a member of the Rochester Rotary Club, the Rochester General Hospital Foundation, the Webster Kiwanis Club and is a board member of the Camp Stella Maris.

He received a BS in business from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina and a degree in mortuary science from the Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse, New York.

Founded in 1889, NYSFDA’s mission is to promote the highest standards of funeral service to the public and to enhance the environment in which its members operate. More than 800 member firms and 3000 licensed funeral directors who operate across the state belong to the New York State Funeral Directors Association. In addition to maintaining a Website at www.nysfda.org, NYSFDA also publishes a quarterly newspaper column “Transitions” and brochures which educate and inform consumers about end-of-life issues.
